I know what sequncing flats is. Do YOU know the new automated flat sequencing machines are the length of a football field? I don't cut yards, I walk the unshoveled walk and steps for my customers. Many whom I check on because of their advanced age. I may not see my satchel weighing 35 lbs during the summer, but when the snow flies .....

Thank you DONOTBEND

Been there done that. I started out at the bottom as a PTF carrier. Having vertical flat cases during my carrying days would have been great. Do you know what sequencing flats is?? Would you cut that yard to save time or still walk up the unshoveled sidewalk to the unshoveled steps. Some would not deliver because it was not shoveled. I will give you credit for the thought that you would. After 30 years, I think I have seen it all, but then you see something new from a city carrier, WOW!!! Then again with the mail the way it is, how often do you have a satchel weighing oooooh 35 lbs.

Thank You "Happy Carrier".

I'd love to see Mel out there with a thirty-five pound satchel in 10 degree frigid cold weather with 24 inch snow drifts, walking up unshoveled steps with 1 friggin piece of standard mail!

Overpaid .... my ass.

Mel, the only thing you have "seen", is what you want to see. You have not "seen" anything!

It seems to me that city carrier supervisors include mandating non OTDL city carriers many hours of OT each week in their budget. I'd love to have a non scheduled day off without being mandated to work. Overpaid ...my ass. I cannot name an acquaintance who works anywhere near the hours each week I do. A lot of my private sector friends work only 4 10 hour days each week and have every Fri-Sun off. I get paid well because I freaking EARN it.

I agree with the terrorism theory, BUT I have seen many city carriers in action just for overtime. They include this OT in their budget every year and even when there is hardly any mail, they complain about pivoting onto other routes. I have seen them walk at a snails pace to avoid any work let alone extra work to complete an 8 hour day. If and when these carriers deserve a pay increase, all in the union must be on board to give an honest 8 hours worth of work. Until then, DO NOT use the terrorism theory when a company can save money by outsourcing. Admit it that in all facets of the postal service, you are overpaid. I believe the management side should be outsourced also because they are receiving BIG BONUSES yearly because craft employees are getting them the numbers needed. This is ALL Craft employees, not just the city carriers. It seems that the Mystery Shopper Program is controlling management anyway, so their is your outsourcing!
