Our family ties with Banta's go back to 1933 when dad was hired right out of Lawrence College as a "trainee." My husband's father ran a sheeter, cutting paper to size for the books. I worked in the traffic department during a summer break from college, and my husband in the warehouse. So we were part of the small family company that grew up and out into the world market. I have a sadness about the sale, but also the reality of today's expectations from wall street.
If it had to be, I am glad they were sold to Donnelley, who has always stood for excellence in the printing business.
