Canada Post employee is disappointed with his union

An interesting post from a blogger who works for Canada Post. He feels the CUPW shouldn’t have rejected participating in the “Corporate Team Incentive Program”, which sounds like something akin to the USPS “Pay for Performance” program.

A Major Disappointment In CPC/CUPW Postal Negotiations

Truth is that CUPW didn’t want to have to introduce the concept to it’s members that if they work hard & contribute to the success of the organization that they would be rewarded. They got bent over the mailbox so badly in last negotiations that they will publish any small gains this time as a success for members. Glad they got that handwash time straightened out!

Unfortunaetly CUPW is a weak union with no teeth, the incentive program is nothing more than a way to get brother against brother, and if we as a union don’t get our act together and begin walk outs ,demonstrations and work slow downs to send a message we might as well just decertify!!! atleast I can save my union dues!!!
A strong union would never have even brought this crap back for consideration most people look at the contract for wage increases and don’t even read the language changes. and don’t even get me started on this unadressed admail!!!!

Do we not all work for the same employer? Now is not the time for internal “bickering”. Now is the time for ALL bargaining units within Canada Post to work together to secure our future in the industry and to make continued improvements for our customers.

Our competitor’s are clearly fighting for our work and that is something we can’t grieve: we can only morph from times long ago when lettermail paid our wages to a highly effective logistics provider with reasonable rates.

So go ahead and walk out or slow down your work. CPC will have to financially cover this loss, mark up prices, lose customers, cut costs (including jobs). One final thought, privatization does not pay bills, benefits or pensions.

The corporate team incentive plan means more work and less pay. There is no guarantee that cupw members will ever see a nickel from management’s devious ploy to get more production out of us. Say no to the CTI scheme!

The union recommended no to the Corporate Team Incentive but it went to a vote and the members ratified that contract. That’s democracy. Personally I prefer a system based on incentive. Personally I’m not disappointed with my former union, I’m disappointed with Moya’s Madness. How is not picking up the mail on weekends going to increase business revenue? When you are in a service based industry, you reduce your profits when you reduce your services. What a brain surgeon.

yes the union screwed us again the union lets canada post get a way with everything and more it seems that the union is more worried about hurting someones feelings than helping the employee that does his jobn everyday. they keep helping the idiots who have no reason to be at canada post. work for 3 months then claim an injury get years of slack ass jobs. canada post should fire there asses, we would be all better for it. the union reps on the the other hand are the laziest of the bunch.

Canada Post is terminating brothers and sisters across the country at an alarming rate over their “red dot policy” Once again they are placing profits ahead of service. Through suspensions and terminations they have the grievance process tied -up for months or longer. What can be done? Canada Post must pay for their labour violations!!
