I work at the Post Office in the US Virgin Islands. Here it is a daily occurance for first class mail to be opened without even an inspector involved, let alone a court order.I am told this is because we are still following Danish law which allows the Local Govt. precedent over the Postal Service. People from the Tax dept. come in eceryday and open mail so they can levy a duty on products. I have personally seen Customs agents here open a Priority box and remove 22 #'s of pot. When I called the Inspection Service to report this I was told that we do not have the money or other resourse to enforce our own laws. What does this mean? Nobody takes Congress seriously?
