Gas & Oil prices continue to climb at record prices. If it continues, I would think the Postal Service would offer Early outs so that they could re-hire new employees and put them were needed as the Postsal Service continues to build its infrastructure of Huge facilities throughout the country like they have been doing for the past 7 years. Think about it. The Postal Service offers early outs ( VERA) nationwide. They replace these older workers with younger workers that are not burnt out and can bring new ideas into the Postal Service. THe two huge issues that need to be discussed nationally on TV or newspapers is the Savings that will come from that. 1. Replace the workers and have the flexability to place these new workers where needed. 2. Saving on base pay. The new employees will have to start from the bottom step and will take up to 9 years to reach the Top step of the retiring employees. 3. Very big reason. The new workers will be at work more often as the new workers will only get 13 day of vacation time per year until they reach over 3 years of service. That is huge as the current workers that would take the early out are currently getting 26 vacation days per year as most of the employees that would take the early out would have over 15 years of service which gets the 26 vacation days. Huge huge huge saving is pay and also vacation time. You would have new workers that are younger and more energetic and can bring fresh new ideas into the postal Service and you pay them a lot less and also they will be working more days during the year. Think about that for savings. That is the ace of spade the postal service has going for them if they come upon financial problems. The probelm is that the Postal Service in FY 2008 Q1 made $672 Million dollars even though the standard mail and First class mail decreased. They would not be able to part take of any of the things america has to offer if they were disconnected from the rest of the country. At least they are able to relate to each other.
