Rumor has it that the rumors were wrong…

… or at least premature.

Area and District EAS employees who were expecting to hear about possible staffing reductions last Friday didn’t- in fact, the freeze on EAS positions thawed as management jobs have once again been posted on the USPS eCareer web site over the last two weeks. Some sources suggest that decisions on administrative staffing reductions have been put off until at least March. It’s still possible some news may come after today’s closed meeting of the USPS Board of Governors.

One thing that did happen on schedule over the weekend, however, was the implementation of this year’s merit increases for EAS employees. The PFP increases were effective Saturday- EAS employees who haven’t been notified of their PFP results can check their new salary and/or lump sum amounts at the USPS eOPF site, which is available from the liteblue.usps.gov page. (Note that you can’t access eOPF from an internal USPS computer.)

figures. once again they dont hurt themselves. post office will go under before they change at the top. will crucify craft, service, quality of work before they take a good look in the mirror.

How ironic to hear this!. Yesterday we were addressed by a union rep who painted a pretty bleak picture. His most interesting comment: Management to craft ratio. Private sector: 20 to 1. USPS 3 to 1.

Yeah tell me about it…on my tour we just added another layer of mgmt(MMO) and we are projected to lose 3 crew members(ETs) to another tour. 30 employees and 4 mgmt personnel.

The PFP was implemented as agreed upon. EAS will get on AVERAGE a 3.5% increase or lump sum payment.
Let me say this, EAS does not receive COLA’s.
The last COLA for craft employees was well over 5%.
I did not complain about their increase. I hope they do not complain about mine.
Saying that, I will also state that if the situation warrants I will gladly take a reduction in pay, hours, or benefits in order to maintain employment at this critical time.
We are all in this together.
It does no good casting dispersions on each other at this time.
Each of us feel that our job is just as important as the other and rightly so. Collectively we are the USPS, as individuals we need each other to succeed.
When hard times befall us as workers it also effects our families, wives, husbands, children all suffer.
My hope and prayer is that through some corrective measures we all will be able to maintain employment throughout this tough economic period.

Our district manager wall called to the Northeast Area office for an emergency meeting, on the way back she called the POOM’s to an emergency meeting. So far the emails have all stopped, no one is saying anything. Two of the POOMs took an early retirement because they were tired of the threats and intimidation. What is next? There are too many ifs, that is why I am going. I am here another Sat donating to the bottom line, enough is enough.

pmg potter was once a carrier but remember that he was an old school carrier who carried out a business route in a tiny canvas hamper .it fit in a jeep!he whistled while he worked.now we have an aging workforce who have dedicated thier entire adult lives to the usps that are taking out two LARGE hampers of mail a day and getting the job done and its still not enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.scanning is a major problem.it looks legit on paper but cant predict the individual carriers outcome.it is good for potter and his gang because it creates more mgt jobs.you know, those guys that never touch the mail but know more about it than us veteran carriers.if our supervisors didnt show up for work to prevent us from delivering the mail, our office would run like a swiss watch

As a Manager, I definitely deserve my little increase. Staying behind daily until 7pm to make sure everything little thing is perfect for OPS (or like I call them “internal affairs”) If all the carriers did things correctly, I wouldn’t have to go behind them like little children. However, the carriers and the lack of clerks is not our BIGGEST problem–Management at the station level gets harassed 10 times more than you do at the clerk level. WE are the only ones that can be held accountable. We have no strongfire union that will fight tooth and nail for us. I have never needed a union. I go by the book and manage with integrity. The union is mostly needed by the good for nothings. Our company will go down because of people not coming to work and the union insisting on paying people for work that they did not perform. AND–if we continue to be treated in this manner–the only qualified reputable management that is still left, will finally break! Ya know, management started where you were, we just wanted to take a leadership role in this company. We are not all bad people. SOME of us do treat others the way we would like to be treated ya know!! Do you know how much flack we take because you miss one scan? You dont come back from your route when you should? Stop casting stones!! I don’t get 12 hours pay for 8 hours work. I get 8 hours pay for whatever hours I work!! You get every single bit of OT you work for or you would walk out the door. And, thanks to the union–you will get more. THIS, is why we will go under!

I don’t feel sorry for any bosses this is the path you have taken in the Postal Service. Most bosses are in it just for the money. Remember when bosses did nothing for 8 hrs.Now they have to work and are crying. You can always go back to the craft NOT you will have to work .

well—sorry that the bosses you have DON’T work…I work EVERY day…ALL day!! So, don’t know where you’re from but we DO exist, as I said before. SOME of the good clerks/carriers DO turn out to be good supervisors and Managers.
Not everyone is promoted for being a screw up or for nepotism.
