FEMA finally gets around to disbursing ‘Heroes’ stamp proceeds
According to a story in the January 22 Linn’s Stamp News, the Federal Emergency Management Agency has “finally begun to disburse the more than $8 million that was raised by sales of the… Heroes of 2001 semipostal stamp.” It has been over two years since the stamps were last sold. According to Linn’s Washington correspondent Bill McAllister, New York Rep. Gary Ackerman, who announced the start of payments last month, said ”… the FEMA process was more cumbersome and took longer than I would have liked…”
What a surprise!
